This is an example of a digital story. I went to Liz Matchett's (GUNN High) presentation and she did an great explanation of this. My project is very basic and I was able to do the technology piece with power point and my i phone. I recorded each slide separately and emailed myself the audio files then saved them and inserted them into the powerpoint. The kids could also use imovie or other video making software. I told them they could include video instead of fotos if they wanted and that mine was a bare minimum in terms of pretty :-)
I have the project planner and rubrics here.
A sample of my project here. I'm not sure if the audio worked here so I'm happy to send you the original power point if you'd like to here it....

Poll Everywhere
I have LOVED using Poll Everywhere.com. I added the link to side bar for good websites.
Some ways I have used it:
Warm up activity: Text in ONE clue for the vocab list we are studying. Text one correct sentences using X grammar point.
End of Class wrap up: Text in ONE correct use of X for EC, please include your name.
Group share: So we can all have a great list of interview questions for our project, please text ONE good interview question that includes a vocab word/phrase.
TIPS:

TIPS:
- Make sure you LIMIT number of texts each kid can make by cliking in top right box when making poll.
- Allow kids to team up if all don't have ability to text.
- Have option of texting or writing up on the board
- You can use the report history as a follow up tool, by copying and pasting responses into word doc and having kids make corrections or use a a pop quiz etc.
John's Idea from CLTA "Question Cards"
John's fave idea was that of Alan Svidal, San Diego Unified School District. It can be used as a review of information (story, vocab, cultural facts etc). On one side of card is a question ex: ?What does the moon represent in most of Lorca's poems? On the other side of the card is an answer but NOT the answer to the question on the front. Students take turns standing up to read their question and answering. The person with the right answer then reads his/her question etc etc.
Speed Dating via CLTA conference & Robyn
Robyn went to Michael Silva's (SMUHSD) session and got this cool powerpoint for Speed Dating. Kids are teamed with person A and B. Persona A asks the question on screen and follow up questions until slide changes. Each time following same process until you see the Change Partners slide in which person B then takes role of questioner and A is answering.

Spanish 4 ORAL final
This actually worked very well and would be useful in AP classes or upper level classes to promote real world conversation. Page One is what I did this year, Page 2 is from last year.
